Hey Snobsters!
Cole here to let you know about most of the travel perks you could acquire by utilizing the American Express (Amex) Platinum credit card.
Traveling as much as I do, I realized it was a smart investment to get a credit card that is specifically suited for frequent jetsetters, like myself. The Amex Platinum has been hugely beneficial, giving me the most out of my travels while actually saving me money in the process.
Check out my tips below on how you can take full advantage of all the Amex Platinum travel perks!
Annual Airline Fee Credit:
One of the best perks of the Amex Platinum credit card is its annual $200 airline fee credit that you can put toward one airline of your choice. This credit is available for you to use on fees including airline lounge passes, checked bags, and more.
$200 in Uber Credits:
Platinum card holders also get up to $200 in Uber credits each year! Just add the card to your Uber account and you’ll receive $15 in credit to use each month via Uber Cash and $35 for the month of December. This is only valid in the US, however, I definitely make use of these Uber credits, especially living in Los Angeles. Whatever I could do to avoid having to search for parking is always an awesome perk! Plus, it’s great to use on business trips or family vacations in the US when I don’t have my car.
Gold Status from Hilton & Marriott:
The Amex Platinum lets you enroll in the Hilton’s and Marriott’s Hotels Gold status loyalty programs. These programs give around $1000 of value in perks if you’re on the program. Kelsea and I love these hotels and frequently stay at them all over the world; so being on their loyalty has been really beneficial.
Elite Status with Car Rentals:
In addition to the mentioned hotel elite status, by enrolling on the Amex website you can also get elite status with several car rental programs in both the US and abroad! I love this perk as it gives me priority access when renting a car, including the best deals, and the best luxury car rental options available. Car rental insurance is also included!
Luxury Hotels Benefits:
The Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts program gives you luxury-status benefits at top hotels. This includes priority and early check-in times, room upgrades (based on availability), daily breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi, late check-out, and sometimes, a third or fourth night stay for free!
Luxury Restaurant Benefits:
Amex’s Global Dining Collection gets you special access to a bunch of fine dining restaurants around the world, and even includes events with Michelin Star world renowned chefs. I’m such a foodie, so one of the things I love most about traveling is trying out all the new foods, restaurants and discovering each country’s unique cuisines. I also get “Invitation Only” and global dining preferences with this card. Therefore, for me, this is most definitely one of the best perks of the card!
Airport Lounge Access:
One of my ultimate travel perks is being able to have lounge access at airports. It just makes the airport waiting game so much more doable and relaxing. Thankfully with this card, you are able to get access to the world’s best airport lounges including Centurion, Delta Sky Clubs, Airspace, Escape, and Priority Pass lounges. These lounges have food, spas (depending on location), showers (depending on locations), rest areas, etc.
Addition of Authorized Users:
And lastly, what’s also great about the Amex Platinum card, and being I’m now a family man, is that I can add up to three authorized users on my account for $175 per year (which adds even more value to the card). Plus, this allows your authorized users to have access to many of the same benefits the main card holder gets. So, for us, this is perfect as Kelsea is able to reap many of the same benefits that she and I would be doing together anyway, including lounge access and the elite hotel and restaurant advantages.
Concierge Services:
Platinum’s concierge service handles pretty much anything! From unusual requests to the very usual requests. They will have flowers waiting for you at your hotel, to having your dinner reservations set. And, rumor has it that the AMEX Platinum concierge can help you find a Birkin. They also offer private jet concierge services!
$100 Saks Credit:
$100 Saks Credit, need we say more!? How awesome is it that the card includes this bonus to use at Saks Fifth Avenue, (one of my favorite stores)! Once you enroll in the benefit on the Benefits section of your Amex Platinum’s page you can charge a Saks purchase to your Amex Platinum card and you’ll be credited up to $50 back on your purchase!
Global Entry and TSA Precheck Credit:
You’ll get a $100 Global Entry or $85 TSA Pre-check waiver and can also get application fee credit for Global Entry every four years or TSA Pre-check every four and a half years with the card.
Other amazing perks this card can offer include:
• Extended warranty purchase protection, roadside assistance
• 5x points
• Preferred seating on flights
• Phone Insurance
• Return Protection
• Access to Delta Private Jet Card
• Starwood Gold Status
Overall, the Amex Platinum credit card is truly amazing for avid travelers like myself. It’s super easy to navigate, allowing you to make sure you are getting the best value the card has to offer.
Hopefully this information will be helpful to you Snobsters when applying for your next credit card.
