Tan Like A Snob
Hey all my tan loving Snobs! Kelsea here –– I wanted to write about something I randomly know a lot about –– being tan! Unfortunately for me, I am not naturally tan. Therefore, not being naturally tan all the time has allowed me to literally have spent years finding what does and doesn’t work with self-tanning! This blog is going to go in depth about how to not only have a beautiful tan glow at all times, but also how to maintain healthy smooth skin along the way! I am going to walk you through step by step on how I prepare my skin for tanning along with all of my top picks for self-tanning products.
How I Prep My Skin For Snob-Worthy, Glowing Skin
- Dry Brush
- Exfoliate in shower
- Dry Skin
- Rub on tan
- Wash hands thoroughly
- Let skin air dry for 3-5 minutes
- Don’t shower for 7-8 hours or more
I always start by dry brushing my skin before I step into the shower. This helps get rid of dead skin, increases circulation, improves cellulite appearance and helps eliminate toxins from your body. After this I step into the shower and use exfoliating gloves and a little bit of natural lemon soap to help really get rid of any excess tan and create a completely clean surface for my new tan. Make sure you always shave before you tan as well! (If you shave in the shower after you tan, your tan is likely to fade quicker). After you finish exfoliating, use a light body wash and rinse your body clean. After you get out of the shower make sure you are completely dry, and then you can begin tanning. If you are using a tanning lotion, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly right afterwards –– or else you will have orangey, mis-colored hands and fingers! Finally, just let your skin air dry for 3-5 minutes and then wait 7-8 hours before showering. With the products I list below, you can be sure that your clothes won’t get ruined and you won’t be sticky.
Snob-Approved Tanning Products
- Lux Unfiltered – No 32 by Sivan Ayla
- Tan Luxe – I use “The Gradual”
- St. Tropez Foam (Make sure you purchase or use a tanning mitt for this one! Also, please allow extra time before wearing white clothes, this one tends to be a bit sticker because of the foam)
- Clarins Sun Drops – These are incredible to make your face tan as well. Just add a few drops into your moisturizer and voilà!
- Vita Liberata –– I also love this in the tanning foam, same rules apply for this one!
I narrowed my products to those five because, trust me, I have tried pretty much all of them! These are all easy to take off, easy to put on, and have the most natural glows I have ever seen. I also love tans that lean more to the natural ingredients side, which all of these have. Finally, don’t forget to moisturize with a fragrance-free lotion as much as possible to keep your skin smooth and that tan glowing! Pro-tip –– the lotions are nice for everyday use because they are more gradual. If you are traveling, I recommend the foams for a more instant tan! You can touch up with the lotions if needed.
I hope to see all my Snobs tan and glowing soon!
